Seven Days of Positive – Day 80

In Family, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Sunday on December 7, 2014 at 11:21 pm

Nothing happened today. Hurrah! That’s how I like my Sundays… cruisey. Well, maybe not quite this quiet. I did so little today, I didn’t take one photo, which is very unusual for me. I only left the house once…

There was one fun thing planned I’d really been looking forward to doing in the afternoon as a family, but my husband disappeared off on some mission of his own and my daughter had made an arrangement I didn’t know about to do some Christmas shopping with a gang of gal pals, so suddenly that was off.

I felt a bit flat about that – especially as I felt I was letting down a friend – but I just didn’t feel like going on my own, when it had been planned as a family outing, so I slipped into mooching mode.

I was just thinking about doing my filing – yes, that bad – when Peggy arrived back at the house much earlier than I was expecting with her best pal. There had been some kind of falling out in the group, with the other three hiving off on their own, and Peggy and Grace were both feeling quite miz.

It was lovely to make a fuss of them. I lit a fire, made them hot lemon and honey and a big bowl of cut-up oranges, and suggested they watched Love Actually again (as long as they agreed to fast forward through the stupid porno story line).

Looking after them made me feel better about my own disappointment.

This evening I watched the final of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Here. I’m going to miss it. The X Factor seems so tired and forced now, but IACGMOOH has somehow retained it’s freshness and I thought this was the nicest bunch of people so far.

I was so glad Jake Quickenden – who was airlifted in to make up for someone who pulled out after a couple of days, fresh from his departure from, guess what? the X Factor – was in the top two. He’s such a sweetheart.

Also, not uneasy on the eye. He has the most adorable dimples (in his FACE cheeks).

The other thing I remembered to do today was to Twitter post the link to my column, The Rules, which appears every Sunday in The Age and online across all the Fairfax newspapers.

Here it is.

  1. Hi Maggie
Thanks so much for sharing the link to The Rules. I really miss it in the smh and was going to cancel my subscription – you were my only tenuous link to that paper . I love this blog so much it is wonderfu and I lookforward to it popping into my inbox so I can make a quiet moment to read it – rather like dessert or a saved up treat. I have been a long time reader of yours – twenty years I think – so I love that I can read you every day.
Best wishes from sunny oz! Margie
